The India-Pakistan men’s hockey final was the showpiece encounter of the Afro-Asian Games.

In front of a packed audience, India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 3-1 to win the gold medal.

This was the first time since 1991 that India had defeated Pakistan twice in the same tournament.

India won 5 of 8 matches played against Pakistan in 2003.

The Afro-Asian Games gold was the fourth title won by India in a span of five months.
