Death of Father |
The afternoon of December 29, father was cremated. The was the
only day I missed training for the 1975 World Cup camp.
Another painful thing happened. Sushil had a brain haemorrhage. Sushil remained in the hospital emergency ward for four weeks. By the time the team left for Kuala Lumpur, she was still very weak and far from healthy. |

after the camp had started, I was summoned home by Sushil. She had noticed a lot
of blood by father's bedside. He was taken to hospital where he died peacefully
on the night of December 28-29.

Another painful thing happened. Sushil had a brain haemorrhage. She too was taken to hospital. Sushil remained in the hospital emergency ward for four weeks. By the time the team left for Kuala Lumpur, she was still very weak and far from healthy.
I often repent for not having cared for father and Sushil as much as I should have. But father's own words console me, "Duty first, self and everything else afterwards, son." I tell myself he could not have misunderstood me. I was only doing my duty by the nation.
